Malvina Reynolds was born in San Francisco in 1900. Her parents were Jews who had come to the United States from Hungary. They believed very strongly that all people had a right to enough food, medical care, and jobs. They were also very much against war. Malvina grew up believing as her parents did.
For Malvina, writing songs was the best way to share her beliefs with other people. You can write songs, too! Write about something you really believe in and put your words to the melody of your favorite song, or make up a tune yourself. Try it! |
