Northwest UU of Atlanta
Atlanta, Georgia

A group of hard-working boys and girls from the Northwest Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Atlanta, Georgia, used their hands to sew 20 beautiful quilts for the babies in Spalding Children's Hospital. The group made 20 quilts in seven weeks! When they arrived with the quilts, the nurse was so happy that she asked them to follow her to every baby's room and watch while she gave each baby a quilt.

Mara Winter
Omaha, Nebraska

Last summer, third grader Mara Winter decided she was going to raise $20 selling peanuts and give the money to the Siena Francis House, a shelter for homeless people in her city. She lives near a baseball stadium and sold most of her peanuts at the last game of the College World Series and at the Fourth of July fireworks. She even dressed up as Martha Washington to sell her "Star-Spangled Peanuts."

Jeffrey and Mike Ericson
Lincoln, Rhode Island

Two brothers from Rhode Island have an unusual pet. They adopted a bison (buffalo) that lives on a tall-grass prairie in Oklahoma through the Nature Conservatory's Adopt-a-Bison Program. His name is Hickory and they have a picture of him in their family room. He eats 30 to 50 pounds of grass every day! This helps the prairie to keep growing with new plants, and the Ericson's don't have to buy bison food.
