CLF Announce
Life Crisis Planning Resources
September 20, 2004
With our far flung congregation, what help can we be to each
other in a life crisis? In response to dialogue with members
on this topic, CLF volunteers and staff have put together
a set of web based resources we hope you will find useful.

Two items are included, both to read online and as downloads:
In Case of Life Threatening Illness or Death...
This form is provided to have significant information conveniently
available. It is wise to discuss this information with your
family, give a copy to your next of kin, and keep a copy for
your personal file. Update it anytime you wish.
A Manual Concerning Deaths, Memorial Services and Arrangements
for Funerals
The material in this booklet has been prepared by David Sammons,
the Minister of the Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church,
in Walnut Creek, CA, as an aid for those who are either confronting
the death of a loved one, or who want to look ahead to the
time when such an event will happen in their own lives. The
manual has been adapted for CLF members with Rev. Sammons'
permission.
The manual includes these links to necessary legal documents
and to a variety of background material.

**In closing, remembering that to question is the answer:
In the "What in the World?" section of this months
"World", Jane Greer poses this question: Barbara
Coombs Lee writes that an acceptance of death can help us
to live better lives. In her essay 'Compassionate Advocacy,'
she quotes a dying cancer patient: 'Death transforms living
in ways that we in this culture do not understand. I think
we need to think of death as sugar, as something that gives
life that pizzazz.'
How does death influence the way you live your life now?
Would things change if you knew that you had twelve weeks
left to live?
