CLiF Notes: A Curriculum for families and small groups

CLiF Notes is designed to help CLF families and small groups lead weekly religious education sessions. The sessions draw from CLF online materials, and presume the availability of computer access (though not necessarily during the sessions themselves). The monthly lesson plans are structured so that each week of the month has a theme:

  • Week One: UU Identity and History
  • Week Two: World Religions
  • Week Three: Principles in Practice (UU principles as a model for ethics and justice)
  • Week Four: Worship
  • Week Five (if applicable): CLiF's Choice

CLiF Notes are delivered via the CLF-RE list monthly. Because there is a fee for non-members to subscribe to CLiF Notes, the current issue is not available on the web site, but examples and subscription information are provided.

Index of RE Materials

This searchable index contains materials from a variety of CLF online resources, including KidTalk, uu&me!, Between Sundays, REsources and RE Connections. We hope having items indexed by topic and age range will make it simple for parents and religious educators to find what they need to create their own lesson plans. You may want to use this index only occasionally—to find an activity when you decide to celebrate Kwanzaa—or you may want to use the broad topics (celebrations, world religions, UU identity, life issues, spirituality) to design a curriculum that focuses on one topic per quarter, or that rotates amongst the topics over the course of a month. All of the materials referenced here are available on-line, and are free to anyone with Web access. This index can be a valuable resource for answering kids' questions as they arise, creating special holiday celebrations or just thinking about religious questions as they occur to you. More >>

Curriculum Outline

This plan outlines a way that UU print curriculum (many available through the CLF library) can be organized to provide a systematic RE program for children of different ages. Unlike the above resources, most of the materials which this Curriculum Outline calls for are not available online. More >>

Between Sundays

This searchable resource aims not only at answering children's questions about religious matters, but also at providing activities that help kids to understand the concepts. Looking for an introduction to Islam or an explanation about what UUs believe about God? Try here. More >>

Coming of Age

A multi-session program for families or small groups to honor the passage of one or more youth from childhood into young adult status, and for youth to explore what it means to take on the responsibility of claiming their UU identity. More >>
