Electronic Communications Policies
Approved by the CLF Board 10/01/2004
The CLF staff works with the Electronic Communications Committee of the Church
of the Larger Fellowship (CLF-ECC) to implement these policies
of the CLF Board of Directors. The CLF Minister shall designate
which staff person(s) are responsible for the specific functions
described below.
Electronic Identity
CLF policy is to use its own URLs, clfuu.org and clfuu.net
in order to maintain its identity as a congregation. Clfuu.org
is used for the web site and for email addresses, and clfuu.net
is used for online courses and bulletin boards.
The Electronic Communications Committee (CLF-ECC)
The CLF-ECC is a standing committee that advises the Board
and staff regarding electronic communications policies and
activities. At least one member shall be a member of the Board,
and the chair shall be appointed by the chair of the Board.
CLF support from the UUA.
The UUA provides space on the UUA's Internet server, email
list services, and other web services to CLF. Please see the
UUA web pages for more complete details of UUA policies. (http://www.uua.org/programs/online/policies.html)
Contact with the UUA staff is through the CLF Administrator.
The UUA currently hosts the CLF web site at www.uua.org/clf,
and references our electronic information in a variety of
links throughout their web site.
Web site
The CLF web site is a central means of communication and service
for our members and our main source of new members. The web
site is maintained by the Webmaster, who reports to the Administrator.
The staff and the CLF-ECC make recommendations for the development
of the web site.
Email aliases Email aliases are maintained for the staff, executive director, minister, and board members (first initial and last name@clfuu.org), and others as convenient. Staff and volunteers are requested to use them.
Sponsorship, approval, and email list services
The CLF sponsors electronic mailing lists for CLF interest
groups, committees and groups to enhance connections among
CLF members, and between our members and our church.
Email list creation
Email lists are created by the designated staff member at
xxx@lists.uua.org or at another site approved by the CLF Administrator.
Email list rules
Participation in CLF lists and bulletin boards is a privilege
and not a right. The basic rules for lists may be found at
www.uua.org/lists/listpolicies.html.
The UUA’s procedures for conflict resolution are at
www.uua.org/lists/listconflict.html.
The CLF may suspend persons who violate our standards and
rules from participating in lists and bulletin boards. If
conflicts arise in an email list that cannot be resolved by
the list manager, a designated staff person will attempt to
arbitrate. If that is not successful, the staff person may
suspend the list participant from further participation in
the list. The participant or list manager may appeal such
decisions to the Minister.
List managers/moderators
List managers and moderators will be selected by the designated
staff member. The staff member is responsible for checking
the references of relevant experiences of persons being considered.
Web logs, bulletin boards and other services
The designated staff member may create other electronic services
to serve our members. This includes support facilities for
on-line courses. These services shall reside at uua.org unless
approved by the CLF Administrator.
